Player Rankings

The VSGA player rankings measures performance in national (i.e., United States Golf Association championships), state (i.e., VSGA championships) and regional competitions (i.e., major tournaments and invitationals) for amateur golfers who are members of the VSGA. Rankings may be given consideration in the selection of golfer of the year and for various teams (Virginia-West Virginia Matches and Captain’s Putter Matches), but they will not be the determining factor because so many criteria are considered in selecting players to be honored. In addition, certain exemptions into VSGA championships are based on Player Rankings.

The 2025 VSGA Player Rankings will start January 1, 2025 and run through December 31, 2025.

Winner: 390 points total (30 for competing, 60 for making match play, 250 for 5 matches won, 50 additional points for victory)

The VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Player Rankings will award points to junior boys and girls who place in 18-hole, 36-hole, and championship events within the VSGA Junior Golf Circuit.
Players will only be eligible to receive points if they play in the Player Rankings division of a JGC 18-hole event, 36-hole event, or select junior championships.
The VSGA JGC Player Rankings season begins with the first 18-hole event after the VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Championship entry deadline and ends with the following year’s VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Championship
The top boy point earner from the previous year’s VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Player Rankings will earn an exemption into the next year’s Scott Robertson Memorial Golf Tournament.
The top girl point earner from the previous year’s VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Player Rankings will earn an exemption into the next year’s Donna Andrews Invitational.

VSGA JUNIOR MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Any player winning a USGA Championship will receive an additional 100 points.

Examples of how points are accumulated:

Player advancing to Round of 32 at U.S. Junior Amateur or U.S. Girls’ Junior – 150 total points (50 + 75 +25)

The 2025 VSGA One-Day Player Rankings began following the cutoff for the 2024 Tournament of Champions and will run through October 4, 2025. The 2026 Player Rankings will begin with the first event following the cutoff.
Players will receive points based on their overall Net finish in each VSGA One-Day Event.
All players who submit a score for the event and finish outside of the points tiers listed below will receive 15 participation points.
The field for the 2025 One-Day Tournament of Champions will be set using the One-Day Event Player Rankings. Entries will be accepted for the top 100 players as of October 4. If there are less than 100 players registered as of the deadline, entries will be filled in order of rank for those over 100.
Tiers are set by the number of players who tee it up the morning of the event.
