The generous scholarship I received from VSGA has helped me immensely already. I put the funds toward my tuition payment, but with the money saved in tuition I've been able to attend an engineering conference in Orlando my first semester! I've also kept in touch with a fellow VSGA scholarship recipient here at Georgia Tech. The scholarship money gives me the opportunity to participate in enriching activities, purchase specialized supplies needed for my major, and defray costs owed for tuition each semester. I'm extremely grateful to VSGA for relieving some stress involved in out of state college costs.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity from the VSGA. I’ve grown up playing golf with my grandfather and fell in love with the sport during COVID in high school even more. Over my first semester of college I’ve played golf in my free time, and I love the joy and challenge it gives me each time out on the course. Through the VSGA’s generosity, I was given the opportunity to focus solely on school and my education rather than finances as well. I have excelled in my courses and am so thankful that it was made possible by the VSGA.
The VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation has played a huge role in my education. This scholarship has provided me the opportunity to attend my local Community College, allowing me to further my education and my career. Thank you VSGA!
The VSGA scholarship helped me attend Virginia Tech where I earned my degree in Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences, with an emphasis in Turfgrass Management. During my professional career, I have been fortunate to work at many courses and host several professional tournaments in different areas of the country. Some of my stops included The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV, Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX, Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Charleston, SC, and Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY.
I was honored to receive a VSGA Scholarship to attend William & Mary in 2000. The VSGA is such an integral part of golf in Virginia. Their support of the game provides the foundation for every player to enjoy the game we all love. Their efforts to promote Junior Golf helped provide me with an opportunity to learn the game at a young age, develop as a player, and ultimately compete at the collegiate and professional levels. Receiving a VSGA Scholarship showed me that the organization valued my commitment to the sport.
Receiving this scholarship was a moment I'll forever cherish. Growing up playing golf has taught me so much with lessons of discipline, resilience, and bonding with a great community. Even now, that same community continues to support me, not just in sport but in life. Thank you for believing in students like me and for making what once felt like a dream a reality.
