The VSGA provides comprehensive education for clubs and golfers through training, resources, and best practices focused on the Rules of Golf and the World Handicap System™. Seminars aims to help attendees understand and apply the Rules and WHS™ correctly, supporting fair play, accurate handicapping, and a consistent experience for golfers across Virginia.

Rules & WHS Seminars

Offered as a benefit to VSGA member clubs, our VSGA staff–instructed seminars provide your club members with direct access to knowledgeable presenters who can answer questions and present key areas of the Rules of Golf and the World Handicap System.
 

Topics of Discussion

It's your choice. We can structure your seminar to focus on just the Rules of Golf or just the World Handicap System, or we can spend time on both areas.

Rules of Golf topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Areas of the golf course
  • Common relief procedures
  • Specific rules situations or golf holes at your club
  • General Q&A

World Handicap System topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Course Handicap and Playing Handicap calculations
  • Recommended allowances for different formats of play
  • Handicap Review and the role of the club's Handicap Committee
  • General Q&A

Scheduling a Seminar

Hosting a member education seminar is an excellent way to kick off the golf season. Between January and April, we’ll work with you to schedule a date and time that best fits your club and its members. If you're ready to move forward, fill out the form below and a member of our staff will contact you to confirm the booking.

  • Availability offered Monday through Thursday
  • Morning, afternoon, or evening times available
  • Seminars are offered in both in-person and virtual formats
  • Your club may invite any members or guests to attend; smaller clubs are encouraged to partner with nearby clubs
  • Offered as a member benefit to VSGA Member Clubs, there is no charge for these seminars
