RICHMOND -- Noah and Liam Maclauchlan, brothers from Moseley, posted rounds of 62 and 65 for an aggregate total of 15-under-par 127 to run away with the title at the 12th MAPGA/VSGA Junior Four-Ball Championship, which concluded on Sunday at Richmond Country Club.
The Maclauchlans finished seven shots clear of runners-up Elijah Felty (North Chesterfield) and Talon Dingledine (Richmond), who posted two rounds of 67 for a two-day total of 8-under 134. Four sides tied for third at 6-under 136.
The Maclauchlans posted two bogey-free rounds as the field battled windy conditions all weekend. Entering Sunday's second and final round, the Maclauchlans held a two-stroke lead over two sides that shot 64 in the opening round -- Evan Young and Graham Weinstein of Midlothian and Owen Lingerfelt and AJ Mukherjee of Richmond. The Maclauchlans opened Sunday with three straight birdies to quickly pull away and essentially sealed the victory with an eagle on No. 9.
The Maclauchlans' 127 was the lowest score in tournament history, one better than Xander Goboy and Trey Marrion shot in 2024. The eight-shot margin of victory was the largest in event history. The previous high margin of victory was six strokes, set in 2017 and 2024.
Among those tied for third were Grayden Laird (Galax) and Jack Skinner (Blacksburg). They followed their opening-round 73 with a second-round 63 to move 21 spots up the leaderboard. Another big mover was the side of Timothy Yi (Centreville) and Matthew Pack (Chantilly), which posted rounds of 72 and 67 to jump 13 spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 10th.
