MIDLOTHIAN – Three-time VSGA Junior Girls’ champion Macie Rasmussen has been named to the U.S. National Junior Team, marking the first time a Virginian has been named to the squad.

Rasmussen, a senior at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake and a member at Greenbrier Country Club, has won the VSGA Junior Girls’ Championship each time she’s entered the event, winning first as a 14-year-old in 2023 before capturing back-to-back titles in 2025 and 2026.

Her last two titles earned her exemptions into the U.S. Girls’ Junior. After reaching match play in 2025 and falling in the round of 64, she advanced to the quarterfinals of this year’s championship.

Rasmussen, who will continue her career at the University of North Carolina beginning in fall 2027, stands No. 14 nationally in the American Junior Golf Association (AGJA) girls rankings. Her strong 2026 season included a win in the Will Lowery Junior Golf Championship, a runner-up finish at the Billy Horschel Atlanta Classic, a T2 at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship, and a fourth-place finish at the Girls Junior PGA Championship.

Rasmussen will be one of 25 players on the U.S. National Junior Team. Standout players on the 2026 team included reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Asterisk Talley, 2025 U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell, and 2025 U.S. Junior Amateur champion Hamilton Coleman.

Rasmussen is one of 14 newcomers to the team. The full roster:

The U.S. National Junior Team is part of the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP). The first team was announced in March 2024 and its first training camp was held two months later at Atlanta Athletic Club.

One of the main goals of the USNDP is to expand, strengthen and diversify the junior golf pipeline by creating critical development, competitive and talent identification opportunities within each state for elite athletes ages 13-18. Part of this goal includes establishing state junior programs across the United States, and Virginia will join this USNDP initiative in 2027. All 50 states have now joined the USNDP.
