Charlottesville -- It was another hot day at Farmington Country Club as the 27 golfers who made Wednesday's cut competed to be the first recipient of the Robbye King Unger trophy.

The three-way tie for first place between Addie Doroh, Kathryn Ha and Kennedy Swedick broke apart and Swedick came out on top as she finished the week 68-74-71—213 (+3). Doroh ended Wednesday with a score of 71-71-75—217 (+7) and in another three-way tie for second place with Lauren Clark (73-70-74—217) and Morgan Mussatt (73-72-72—217).

Ha dropped seven spots on the leaderboard after shooting +9 on Wednesday, finishing in a tie for eighth with Elsie MacCleery who moved up four places with a +1 performance in the final round.

Lauren Greenlief, Jillian Drinkard and Skyler Sload all tied for fifth place with +10 finishes — Greenlief jumped five spots on the leaderboard after a +2 round, while Drinkard climbed two.

Quotable:

  • "I had so much fun out there. It was hot again, but I kind of got off to a pretty strong start and had a birdie on five and I was just really staying consistent." -- Swedick
  • "Yesterday wasn't my best but I knew my gamed was still in a really good place. I knew I just had to be patient and make sure I was committing to every single one of my shots — again knowing that par was a good score." -- Swedick
  • "To see all the volunteers, all the Farmington members, and then obviously my teammates and my friends and family come out and support I'm so blessed and this week has been everything." -- Swedick
  • "This whole entire field had such great competitors and especially on this course being able to make sure my mental game was definitely huge this week and that's kind of what I've been working on." -- Swedick
  • "it means so much to be able to do this for my UVA team as well and to be able to support them. Go Hoos!" -- Swedick

Charlottesville -- Day two's leaderboard ended similar to the first round's, but now features a three-way tie at the top as Addie Doroh joined Kathryn Ha and Kennedy Swedick, all sitting at 2-over after Tuesday's round came to a close.

Doroh — who sat in fourth place after Monday's first round — shot her second consecutive +1 of the tournament, while Ha and Swedick both shot +4 on day two at Farmington Country Club.

Lauren Clark climbed seven spots into fourth place after round two after shooting an even-par 70, while Morgan Mussatt and Skyler Sloan are tied for fifth place after each carded 72 on Tuesday.

Despite tallying three birdies, Shannon McKew-Strawoet fell four spots and is now tied for seventh with Jillian Drinkard after a +7 second round.

Quotable:

  • "There were some pin locations that you just had to be disciplined to — par was your best friend out there." -- Clark
  • "When I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be really good or really bad. I actually woke up really, really sick and didn't know if I was going to play today. But I took it one shot at a time, which probably helped my patience today." -- Clark
  • "Coming from Florida in this breaking heat, I'm not melting. This is kind of our average day, where I know what my strategies are to stay cool, but also I've had this for five months ... This is 10 a.m. for us in Florida." -- Clark
  • "For me, heat doesn't really bug me too much — I actually feel like I can move my body a lot better so I was cool with it." -- Mussatt
  • "I just came from the Donna Andrews, so eight days of golf in a row was a lot. So just making the cut was all I was really looking forward to and maybe give my shot to win tomorrow even better." -- Mussatt
  • "Everyone's out here in the same conditions so there's only so much you can do." -- Doroh
  • "In the middle of the round, I got the hint that par is a great score. Coming into this week I knew that, but seeing the ability to go low yesterday kind of shifted my mindset temporarily but I think throughout the day you knew par was going to be a good score." -- Ha
  • "I think it's hard around here to wait for the birdies to come to you but you're almost forced to be patient and I think tomorrow I'm going to play with a great group and I just really want to have some fun." -- Ha
  • "It's definitely a grind out there. I think yesterday was kind of clicking for me so it made golf and Farmington seem pretty simple but I realized how much of a grind today was. Everything was just a little bit off for me and Farmington really takes advantage of that so you have to be really precise with your shots into these greens and some of these pins. I didn't really have that today but proud of how I could grind it out like the last hole and being able to birdie the last hole." -- Swedick

Charlottesville -- On the first day of the 3rd Women's Open of Virginia, besting the heat and Farmington Country Club, both Kathryn Ha and Kennedy Swedick finished on top of the leaderboard, both shooting a 2-under 68.

Ha maintained a steady lead through the back nine ahead of Swedick until the final three holes where she recorded three consecutive bogeys.

PGA head golf professional at River Bend Golf and Country Club Shannon McKew-Strawoet sits in third after she fires an even par two strokes back from the lead. Behind McKew-Strawoet in fourth place on the leaderboard is Addie Doroh shooting a 71.

Six players tied for fifth place shooting a 2-over 72 including Annabelle Jennings, Kanchana Duangsam, Lauren Greenlief, PGA professional Jillian Drinkard, Samantha Fritzinger and Riley Kim.

Quotable:

  • "Mentally I knew I didn't have the reps I needed, but I believed I could still do it. So that's that's been my challenge is just to get myself back in the mindset that I can do it. I have the game I don't need to practice to death beforehand, just believe in myself more." -- McKew-Strawoet
  • "Allie is my teammate, she was on the bag for me today. So we were just having so much fun out there, just like going out and just like laughing and having a good time. So never got down. Then I had a good birdie on, like 13 or 14, not such a good putt on the next hole. But I just kept hitting consistent, consistent shots, and hopefully a few more pots go in the rest of the week." -- Swedick
  • "I didn't do anything crazy, got up and down three or four times, which saved me. But yeah, it played to my strengths today, because I just figured out it was soft early and tried to get after the pins a little later." -- McKew-Strawoet
  • "I had some comfortable numbers, especially on some of these par fours with some a wedge in my hand. It was all about like strategy, looking at my like heat map on my green book to see, where those more extreme slopes are, and trying to stay away from that. And then on some of the birdies, I was just able to capitalize on some shots and so, yeah, my putting was pretty consistent today.
  • "I really appreciate the SGA partnering with Mid-Atlantic PGA. You guys do an awesome job. I've grown up Maryland state my whole life, and I think that the first three years you guys have have knocked us out of the park and the state open the field strong, and it just keeps getting better." -- McKew-Strawoet
  • "My game feels pretty loose. I've been on the road a little bit and still in the state of Virginia, but I've been pretty busy with tournaments, and so I know there's some good golf left in me, and feel pretty good after coming with, like a top 15 finish last week. So, yeah, just trying to use that momentum this week." -- Ha
  • "My goal is also to be here through Wednesday. I had a great caddy, Dustin the head pro here offered to caddy for me, so that was nice. Good teamwork today. I'm not going to change anything. Just keep rolling." -- McKew-Strawoet
  • "There's a lot of young talent. The depth of the field is very deep, with all these pros and a lot of people that have so much experience, whether or not they go on tour or just have been playing golf for a long time, and it's just an honor to be in the field and how be in contention, and I expect more good golf from a lot of the my peers." -- Ha
