Format: Eight players from Virginia and Maryland (five from VA, three from MD) against eight players from the Carolinas Golf Association (North and South Carolina). Four-ball match play on Saturday and singles matches on Sunday. One point is available in each match.

ROANOKE -- In an intense showdown today, the Virginia/Maryland team triumphed over the Carolinas team with a close overall score of 6.50 - 5.50. The competition was fierce, with both teams showcasing remarkable talent and determination.

Key highlights of the match included Katie Vu (Virginia) securing a 2 & 1 victory against Mia Carles (Carolinas), and Kathryn Ha (Virginia) winning 6 & 5 against Claire Green (Carolinas). Despite strong performances from the Carolinas team, with Riley Grimm (Carolinas) defeating Julia Hua (Maryland) 6 & 5 and Miraya Lurie (Carolinas) achieving a 3 & 2 win over Addie Doroh (Virginia), the Virginia/Maryland team managed to edge out the back-to-back win.

Day 1: Virginia/Maryland takes an early lead

ROANOKE -- After Saturday four-ball play, the Virginia/Maryland team holds a 3-1 lead over the Carolinas in the 23rd Mid-Atlantic Junior Girls' Matches, held at Roanoke Country Club.

Notable performances included Alisa Davidova (Virginia) and Julia Hua (Maryland), who concluded 1 up over Mia Carles and Miraya Lurie (Carolinas) after a thrilling 18th hole. Davidova and Hua both secured birdies to win their match. Leah Edwards and Rachel Joyce (Carolinas) also achieved a close victory, defeating Kathryn Ha (Virginia) and Elsie MacCleery (Virginia) 1 up.

In addition, Katie Vu (Virginia) and Lani Park (Maryland) delivered a 4 & 3 win over Emerson Dever and Claire Green (Carolinas). Addie Doroh (Virginia) and Julianna Ishii (Maryland) also earned a 3 & 2 victory against Ella June Hannant and Riley Grimm (Carolinas), further strengthening Virginia-Maryland's position.

Singles match play is set to begin Sunday at 8:00 a.m. on hole no. 1, promising another exciting day of golf.
