WILLIAMSBURG -- The Junior Golf Circuit Championship concluded on Sunday at Williamsburg National Golf Club's Jamestown Course with Macie Rasmussen and Talon Dingledine coming out on top in their respective divisions. Rasmussen, who shot a 2-under 70 in the first round, entered Sunday's play in the girls' player ranking division with a two-shot lead over 2023 VSGA Women's Amateur Champion Makayla Grubb. A 1-under 71 on Sunday was enough for her to pull away from the field and secure a four-stroke victory over Lilly Hall. Grubb and Alexis Danielle Goboy tied for third at 3-over 147.. Throughout the day Rasmussen kept her lead with staying on par or better with one double bogey and one bogey. Similarly Rasmussen remained on par most of the day Saturday with a handful of birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey. Her opponents close behind her didn't stop Rasmussen from playing smart, steady golf to keep her top spot throughout the weekend.
Dingledine needed a strong rally on Sunday to come out on top. He entered the second round seven shots behind leader Shrey Sharma, who posted a 6-under 66 on Saturday. Dingledine surged to a 5-under 67 on Sunday while Sharma struggled to a 3-over 75, giving Dingledine a one-shot victory thanks to a two-day total of 4-under 140. The championship was decided on the 18th hole as Dingledine made a par and Sharma made double bogey. Rusty Hooks posted a 3-over 147 over the two days to finish alone in third.
Earlier this summer, Dingledine won the VSGA Junior Match Play Championship, and Rasmussen won the VSGA Junior Girls' Championship.
Both Rasmussen and Dingledine played steady, skillful golf and their efforts showed in their victories as 2023 Junior Golf Circuit Champions.
