DANIELS, W. Va. -- Virginia won the rain-shortened 14th Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational on Sunday at Glade Springs Resort, posting a team total of 681, which was 20 strokes clear of second-place Maryland at 701. West Virginia finished third at 709.
Originally scheduled for 36 holes, the competition was shortened to 27 holes due to rain. The invitational pits eight-player teams from the Virginia State Golf Association, West Virginia Golf Association and Maryland State Golf Association in a stroke-play competition.
Logan Reilly led the way for the Virginia team in the first round, posting an even-par 72. Jake Albert was second on the team with a 75, followed by Ryan Leach (76), Jonathan McEwen (77), Talon Dingledine (77), Ryan Slonaker (78), Brandon Sipe (80) and Noah Maclauchlan (81). McEwen and Leach each posted even-par front nines of 36 on Sunday before the competition was called.
West Virginia's Tanner Vest was the individual medalist, posting a 1-under 107 over 27 holes to finish one shot clear of Maryland's Bennett Espenshade.
