WILLIAMSBURG -- The Virginia Beach National Golf Club duo of Becca DiNunzio and Mason McCoy posted a 10-under-par 61 on Wednesday at The Golden Horseshoe's Gold Course to win the overall gross title at the 9th VSGA Mixed Four-Ball Tournament.
DiNunzio, a rising junior at Virginia Tech, and McCoy, a rising sophomore at Old Dominion, had a bogey-free day on Wednesday, finishing with 10 birdies. They finished two shots clear of defending champions Lauren Greenlief (International CC) and Keith Decker (Ballyhack GC), and the side featuring ODU women's golf coach Mallory Hetzel (Princess Anne CC) and Adam Horton (Elizabeth Manor G&CC). Both sides posted rounds of 8-under 63.
Three sides posted rounds of 6-under 65: Shelley Savage and Carl Carson (Army Navy CC); Kristine Rohrbaugh (Stonehenge G&CC) and John Sarrett (Meadowbrook CC); and Andrea Miller (Keswick GC) and Harry Thomas (Kinloch GC).
In the net division, the side of Kathy and Bryan Harrell (Blacksburg CC) won with a 11-under-par 60. They finished a shot clear of Kyong and Soon Chang (Springfield G&CC), and Kassi Saridakis and Pete Barbera (Belle Haven CC). Both side posted 10-under rounds of 61.
