WILLIAMSBURG—Chesapeake’s Trey Marrion and Virginia Beach’s Amber Mackiewicz claimed titles at the 6th Virginia State Golf Association Junior Golf Circuit Championship on Sunday at Williamsburg National Golf Club’s Jamestown Course.
Originally scheduled for 36 holes, the event was reduced to 18 holes after heavy rain in the area washed out play on Saturday.
In the boys player ranking division, Marrion was one of five players who posted a 1-under-par round of 71. He made birdie on the first playoff hole to win the championship. Richmond’s Charlie Kennedy, Glen Allen’s Steele Vantre, Williamsburg’s Mason Eggleston and Virginia Beach’s Miller Carr also returned 71 on Sunday.
Virginia Beach’s Oen Shikimachi shot an even-par 72 to finish sixth.
In the girls player ranking division, Mackiewicz posted a 3-under par 69 to win by two strokes over Suffolk’s Faith Garcia. Mackiewicz and Garcia were the only players to finish under par. Faith’s sister Hope Garcia was one of three players tied for third at 6-over 78. Charlottesville’s Addie Doroh and Chesapeake’s Carly Tucker were the others.
