ZION CROSSROADS — Almost one year ago to the day, Jake Albert and Brian Harrell went home empty handed at the 2nd VSGA Parent-Child, finishing in eighth place.

This year, they came to Spring Creek Golf Club with retribution in mind and took home the victory with an outstanding 14-under-par 58, that included eight birdies and three eagles in the 10-13 flight. Harrell, 56, credits the 13-year old Albert for carrying the team to victory.

“My driver was really good, and I made a lot of good putts,” said Albert. Harrell said he helped the team out with putting. When asked what the victory meant for the two, they agreed that it was revenge for their lackluster performance last year and laughed.

Harrell also said that despite the duo’s strong performance, he felt that left a lot of good shots out there on the front nine and expressed concern that the duos 14-under score may be toppled by another side, but the score stayed strong and Harrell and Albert stood tall at the end of the tournament.

Behind Albert and Harrell in the overall score and the 10-13 group was the pair of Talon and Ray Dingledine, who posted a 12-under-par 60, that included 10 birdies and an eagle on hole 18 by the 13-year old Talon.

The 14-18 flight finished in a three-way tie for first that included Todd and Jack Hoyle, Darrell and George Clark, and Esteban and Dave Knorr, who all went 8-under for a score of 64.

The 18-29 flight was won by Joey and David Jordan, last year’s runners-up. They posted a 10-under-par 62, falling just short of the victory for the second year in a row. The duo said they fell short this year but will be looking for retribution once again next year.

The 30 and over flight was won by Jim Woodson and his youngest son, Paul. They fell just two strokes short of the victory, tying Talon and Ray Dingledine for second overall with a 12-under par 60.
