DANIELS, W. Va.
In an event shortened to 18 holes due to inclement weather, the Virginia State
Golf Association team posted a score of 449 to win the 11th
Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational at The Resort at Glade Springs.

Virginia held an eight-shot lead over Maryland after
Saturday’s first round. Players began play on Sunday, with some finishing up to
six holes before heavy rain inundated greens. Play was suspended for an hour,
and after conditions were re-evaluated, several greens were determined to be
unplayable, and the rest of the competition was canceled.

The event featured eight players each from the VSGA,
Maryland State Golf Association and West Virginia Golf Association battling in
a stroke-play competition. Virginia finished at 449, followed by Maryland at
457 and West Virginia at 469. Virginia won for the sixth straight year and has
won seven of the 11 Invitationals.

Maryland’s Ryan Moylan posted the best score of the competition,
a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday, to earn individual medalist honors. Fairfax’s
Bryan Lee, winner of the VSGA Junior Match Play Championship in June, returned
a 2-under 70 to finish second. Richmond’s Charlie Kennedy and Maryland Connor
McGarrity tied for third at 74, with West Virginia’s Norris Beard and Virginia
Beach’s Cullen Campbell tying for fifth at 75.
