Norfolk's Becca DiNunzio posted a 3-under-par 69 at Fredericksburg Country Club on Thursday to claim one of four available qualifying spots in the upcoming U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
The U.S. Girls' Junior will be held July 22-27 at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis.
DiNunzio, who was recently runner-up at the 42nd VSGA Women's Stroke Play Championship, continued her strong recent play Thursday at Fredericksburg. She returned a bogey-free scorecard and made birdies at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 10 to finish two strokes clear of the field and claim medalist honors.
Nicole Adam, Bailey Davis and Emma Zhao also earned spots in the championship proper. VSGA member Tatum Walsh shot 73 and will be the second alternate out of the Fredericksburg qualifier.
