VSGA member Amanda Hollandsworth, a graduate student at Virginia Tech and a member at Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd, posted a two-round aggregate 141 on Tuesday at Springfield Golf & Country Club to earn medalist honors at a qualifier for the U.S. Women's Open Championship.
The championship will be played May 30-June 3 at the Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina.
The other qualifying spot went to Karoline Stormo, who plays at Kent State University in Ohio. She followed her opening-round 74 with a second-round 70 for a two-round 144.
The two alternate spots went to Anita Uwadia and professional Allie Knight.
Hollandsworth was the leader after 18 holes thanks to a 2-under 69. She rallied after a rough start to her second round to finish at 1-over 72. She'll be making her first U.S. Women's Open appearance.
