GREAT FALLS — The eight-member Virginia team posted a two-day total of 879 to post a comfortable, 16-stroke victory in the 10th Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational, which was completed Sunday afternoon at River Bend Club.
Maryland took second with a two-day 895, followed by West Virginia in third at 952.
Kelly Chinn (Army Navy CC) won individual medalist honors, returning a two-day aggregate 3-under-par 139 that included a 68 in Sunday’s second round. Michael Brennan (River Creek Club) shot 75-72 for a two-day 147 that put him in third. Other Virginia players in the top 10 included Ross Funderburke (Hidden Valley CC), Ben Carroll (Blacksburg CC) and Alex Price (Stoneleigh G&CC) at 149 and Jimmy Taylor (Belle Haven CC) at 153.
Maryland’s Liam Powederly finished in second at 144, five strokes behind Chinn.
The Virginia team won its fifth straight title in the event, which is a two-day stroke-play competition.
