Virginia roster set for 9th Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys Invitational

A past Virginia State Golf Association Junior Stroke Play champion and a participant in this past summer’s U.S. Amateur Championship highlight the Virginia roster for the 9th Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational, which begins Saturday at The Suburban Club in Baltimore.

The Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational is a two-day stroke-play event featuring eight players each from the VSGA, the West Virginia Golf Association and the Maryland State Golf Association. Virginia won last year’s event in Parkersburg, W. Va., with a two-day total of 897, 20 shots better than Maryland.

Virginia has won the last three Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitationals, including the last one held in Maryland in 2014. Overall, Virginia and Maryland own four victories apiece in the event.

  • Kurtis Grant (Army Navy CC): Won the 2016 VSGA Junior Stroke Play title. … Made the cut at the Delta Dental State Open of Virginia. … Tied for fifth at VHSL 6A Championship.
