10th VSGA Women's Four-Ball Championship

Dates: Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3

Format: 36-hole four-ball stroke play competition in three divisions -- Open, Senior, and Net. If there is a tie at the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes in any division, a sudden-death playoff will be utilized to determine a champion.

Starting times: Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday off hole #1.

Defending champions: Jessica Spicer and Sarah Spicer-Baldwin (Open); Amy Ellertson and Natalie Easterly (Senior); Emma Zelaski and Olivia De Cuba (Net).

Day 1: Defending champs hold slim Open division lead

ALEXANDRIA -- The twin sister duo of Jessica Spicer and Sarah Spicer-Baldwin posted a 4-under 67 on Saturday at Mount Vernon Country Club to take a one-stroke lead over Lauren Greenlief and Jackie Rogowicz in the Open Division of the 10th VSGA Women's Four-Ball Championship. 

Seeking their third title in this event, the Spicers posted a bogey-free round that included four birdies. Greenlief and Rogowicz also carded four birdies, but both made bogey at the par-3 2nd hole, leaving them a stroke behind.

In the Senior division, Bev Lane and Kristin Shifflett returned a 1-over 72 and holds a two-stroke lead over the Fawn Lake Country Club duo of Becki Davis and Kit Burns. Seven-time champions Amy Ellerton and Natalie Easterly -- who have won this event every time they've entered -- are three strokes back after returning a 4-over 75.

Fort Belvoir GC's Oksan Hite and Won Hwang hold a commanding lead in the Net division, a 7-under 64 leaving them four strokes clear of Patti Anctil and Jan Carlson.
