LAUREL FORK -- The Carolinas won all three sessions at the 65th Women's Virginias-Carolinas Matches at Olde Mill Resort--which concluded Wednesday--and claimed an 82.5-61.5 victory over the Virginias, marking the Carolinas' 11th win in the last 12 meetings in the series.

The matches featured top women from the Virginia State Golf Association and West Virginia Golf Association squaring off against players from the Carolinas Golf Association (North and South Carolina).

Points were awarded for the front nine, back nine and overall match result.

On Wednesday, the following Carolinas players nabbed all three available points: Pam Prescott, Smith Knaffle and Courtney Stiles. For the Virginias, Amy Ellertson, Linda DiVall, Grace Huffman, Abby Portyrata and Julie Shin were able to secure all three points in their matches.

The Carolinas gained separation when several players were able to win 2.5 points in their respective matches, including Toni Notaro, Sarah Phillips-Durst, Chrissie Spidell, Judy Penman, Victoria Cook, Mallory Forbes, Alexis Sudjlanto and Gracyn Burgess.

Over the three days, the Virginias team was led by Shin, who will begin her college career at the University of Pennsylvania in the coming weeks. She secured all nine points available in her matches. Other standouts for the Virginias were Natalie Easterly and Mallory Kane (seven points each), and Sydney Grimes and Cathleen Wong (six points each).
