Preview: 35th Virginias-Carolinas Junior Boys' Matches

The 35th Virginias-Carolinas Junior Boys’ Matches begin Saturday, Aug. 12 at Boonsboro Country Club. The matches alternate every year between the Lynchburg club and a site in North Carolina.

FORMAT: Eight players from the Virginia State Golf Association and the West Virginia Golf Association will square off against eight players from the Carolinas Golf Association, which includes golfers from both North and South Carolina. The two-day competition opens with four-ball and foursome play on Saturday, followed by eight singles matches on Sunday.

SERIES: The Carolinas have won five of the last six meetings and hold a 19-14-1 overall lead in the series. Virginias won the last time the event was contested at Boonsboro in 2015. In Lynchburg, the series is evenly split at 8-8-1.

LAST YEAR: The Carolinas squeaked out an 8½-7½ victory at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C.
