VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation Announces Intern Opportunity

VSGA-VIP SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

INTERNSHIP

POSITION:  VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation Internship

REPORTS TO:  VSGA’s Director of Membership / VIP Golf Card Program

PURPOSE:  The position is structured to provide an environment in which the intern will have an opportunity to gain knowledge of the inner workings of a scholarship foundation.  The intern will be involved with a wide range of tasks and receive hands-on training in the following areas:  daily record keeping, data management, scholarship deliberations, VSGA VIP Card sales and special event planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include but are not limited to, the following:

VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation Support

  • Assist with the distribution of 2017 scholarship applications as well as with the compilation of information submitted online and via paper for selection committee
  • Assist with conducting annual meeting and scholarship deliberations
  • Generate correspondence to award recipients as well as those applicants not selected.  Also compile acceptance letters, details on college choices and senior awards ceremony information
  • Update Foundation content on website
  • Assist with the Fleming Fund
  • Assist VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation president as necessary

VIP Golf Card Program

  • Assist with daily VIP Card order taking, processing and fulfillment
  • Assist with training club personnel at participating VSGA VIP clubs on the newly created App
  • Receive training on the VSGA’s customer relations management system (Command) and help maintain a list of donations to the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation
  • Update VSGA website in efforts to maintain timely VIP Golf Card program information
  • Other duties as assigned

VSGA Day (Scholarship Awards Presentations)

  • Help create and mail invitations to scholarship recipients, board members and VSGA volunteers
  • Assist with the creation of awards certificates and the ordering of plaques
  • Help create and print luncheon program as well as registration packets
  • Prepare seating chart for awards luncheon and assist with golf pairings
  • Assist with venue staging & breakdown
  • Coordinate distribution of VSGA Day images and award plaques after event
  • Coordinate participation of VSGA board members and volunteers at senior award ceremonies
  • Generate awards letters to colleges and help coordinate distribution of scholarship checks

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong verbal, written and organizational skills.  Attention to detail a must
  • Solid data entry skills and the ability to generate spreadsheets.  Desktop publishing skills a plus
  • Ability to take, process and fulfill VIP Card orders received through the mail and over telephone

COMPENSATION:  Not to exceed $2,000 per month for seven months
