GLEN ALLEN -- An eagle on the 15th hole proved to be the difference as the team of Michael Millen, Boodie McGurn, Lindsay Wortham and Coleman Wortham won the gross division Monday at the 2021 VSGA Spencer-Wilkinson Benefit Tournament at The Dominion Club.
The foursome posted a 14-under par 58 to finish in a tie for first with Mike Ancel, Joe Coates, Nancy Shiffler and Tammy Bouchard. The winner was declared after a match of cards. Millen/McGurn/Wortham/Wortham made eagle at 15, while Ancel/Coates/Shiffler/Bouchard made birdie.
The Spencer-Wilkinson Benefit Tournament is a four-person captain's choice event with all proceeds going to the Spencer-Wilkinson scholarship fund. Each year, Spencer-Wilkinson awards are granted to girls with an interest in golf who are pursuing a college education.
The foursome of Holly Caruso, Patricia Stauffer, Donna Lett and Allison Cherry posted a 19-under-par 53 to win the net division by a shot.
