The Dominion Energy Charity Classic is focused on making a positive impact within the Richmond community. Birdies for Charity presented by TowneBank is designed to give area charities an opportunity to generate contributions through flat donations or based on the number of "birdies" made by PGA TOUR Champions players during the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, which will be held October 21-23 at the Country Club of Virginia's James River Course in Richmond. Participating charities will receive all of the donations collected on their behalf, minus credit card fees. Additionally, donations will be bonused by an additional 10%! (Bonus applied to a maximum of $100,000 raised per charity and/or $1,000,000 raised for the entire program.)
The Virginia State Golf Association is proud to take part in the Birdies For Charity program. Donations can be made to the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation and the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame.
The VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to high-school seniors with an interest in golf as they pursue their higher education dreams. To date, the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) entity, has awarded $2.7 million to more than 1,000 students who all share an interest in golf. Additionally, the Foundation awards grants to graduate students studying turfgrass management at Virginia Tech. The Virginia Golf Hall of Fame, a 501(c)(3) entity, has a simple mission: Recognizing Excellence and Honoring Heritage in Virginia golf. Twenty-six individuals have been inducted into the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame since its inception in 2016, and another six-member class is set for induction in October 2022.
