The original layout of the course was designed by Fred Findlay, a renowned golf architect of the era, who in his day designed over 50 golf courses in the state of Virginia alone. The course, with bermuda greens and bermuda fairways, takes you through beautiful rolling terrain and tall southern pines that are the identifying characteristics of the region. Design and construction was accomplished in the mold of other famous courses of the Sand Hills region with fairways that assist and greens that provide the golfer with a firm but fair challenge.
