56th VSGA Junior Girls' Championship

Format: 54 holes of stroke play. The field will be cut to the low 20 players and ties for the third and final round. This is a USGA Exemption Event, and the winner will receive automatic entry into the U.S. Girls' Junior.

Day 3: Consistency leads Rasmussen to second VSGA Junior Girls' Championship title

Richmond -- Macie Rasmussen, the 54th VSGA Junior Girls' Champion, secured her second title on Wednesday in the final round of the 56th championship. After remaining consistent and jumping up the leaderboard yesterday from third to a two-way tie for first place with Lillian McDermott, Rasmussen successfully reclaimed her title, ending the tournament with even par (71-71-74--216). 

With the win, Rasmussen received a golden ticket to the USGA's U.S. Junior Girls’ Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club from July 14-19 — her first time competing in this event. 

McDermott — who entered Wednesday's third and final round tied with Rasmussen — fell to ninth place after shooting an 81, closing the week with scores of 70-72-81--223.

Addie Doroh climbed the leaderboard, finishing the tournament in second place after finishing day two in a two-way tie for fifth place. Doroh posted an even-par 72, bringing her three-day total to 218 (75-71-72). 

After ending Tuesday in third, Carter Bransford maintained her spot through the final round, carding 219 (73-71-75) after the third day. 

With a 2-under performance, Emerson Roychoudhury saw the leaderboard for the first time in the championship after she secured three birdies on the back nine. She posted a final score of 220 (78-72-70) for the week.

Day 2: McDermott holds firm; Rasmussen’s strong round forces another tie for the lead

Richmond -- Day two of the 56th VSGA Junior Girls' Championship came to a close with Lillian McDermott still on top of the leaderboard but shares a new two-way tie for first with the 54th VSGA Junior Girls' Champion Macie Rasmussen as she moves up from her previous spot in third.

McDermott shot an even 72 on Tuesday with another three birdies on the back nine, just as she did during Monday's round. Rasmussen's four birdies on the front nine aided her round as she shot a 1-under 71. 

Tuesday’s leaderboard welcomed new names, with Ann Sophie Bourgault and Elsie MacCleery climbing into ties for fifth and seventh place, respectively.

Carter Bransford made a jump up the leaderboard, sitting in third place after round two, also with a 1-under performance on the day. Erin Mullin — who was tied with McDermott after Monday's round — now sits in a three-way tie for seventh place with MacCleery and Rose Hall after carding a 77. 

Action continues on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. on hole No. 1.

Richmond -- After Monday's first round of the 56th VSGA Junior Girls' Championship, the leaderboard was packed with a two-way tie for first between Erin Mullin and Lilian McDermott as both finished 2-under par.

Mullin opened the tournament with a hot start, notching four birdies on the front nine while McDermott closely matched Mullin's momentum on the back nine with three consecutive birdies of her own on holes 12, 13 and 14. 

Macie Rasmussen sits alone in third place with a 1-under par finished after round one — also with four birdies. Tied for fourth place are Karoline Sweet and Raquel Walker, both of whom shot an even 70 on the day. Walker had been tied for first with the duo of Mullin and McDermott but dropped on the back nine with bogeys on holes 16 and 18. 

Action resumes on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. on hole No. 1.
