WILLIAMSBURG – Richmond’s
Charlie Kennedy and Chesapeake’s Annabelle Jennings posted commanding victories
in their respective divisions to claim titles at the 5th Virginia
State Golf Association Junior Golf Circuit Championship, held this past weekend
at Ford’s Colony Country Club’s Marsh Hawk Course.

Kennedy won the boys player rankings division title by seven
strokes over Chesterfield’s Zachary Valdes. Jennings posted a three-shot
victory over Virginia Beach’s Emma Landis in the girls player ranking division.

Kennedy shot a 4-under 68 in Saturday’s first round to enter
Sunday with a two-stroke lead over Valdes and Lynchburg’s Garnet Manley. He
made seven birdies and three bogeys in that opening round but went bogey free
on Sunday to run away with the title. He shot a 5-under 67 with five birdies to
finish with a two-day aggregate 9-under 135.

Kennedy was the only player to shoot in the 60s. Valdes shot
an even-par 72 on Sunday for a two-day 142 to finish alone in second.
Williamsburg’s Robert Dudeck III (72-71—143) was third, followed by Norfolk’s
Riley Tuttle (73-73—146) in fourth and Manley (70-77—147) in fifth.

Jennings shot 77-74—151 to win the girls player rankings
division title. She opened Sunday three strokes behind first-day leader Reagan
McCoy of Virginia Beach. McCoy followed her first-round 74 with a second-day 82
for a two-day 156. After making just one birdie in Saturday’s round, Jennings
made three birdies on the outward nine Sunday to surge into the lead. She
played the back nine at 1 over, enough to hold off her challengers.

Landis (79-75—154) was alone in second, followed by Virginia
Beach’s Delaney McCoy (78-77—155), Reagan McCoy and Spotsylvania’s Rachel
Detore (81-77-158).
