Mimi Hoffman, Abigail Portyrata, Kay Tyler and Maria Kirby posted a 14-under-par 56 to win the overall gross division at the 2019 VSGA Spencer-Wilkinson Benefit, held Monday at Wintergreen Resort's Devils Knob Golf Course.
The Women's Spencer-Wilkinson Benefit is a four-person captain's choice event. All proceeds from Monday's event will be donated to the Spencer-Wilkinson Scholarship Fund. The Spencer-Wilkinson Awards were started in 1996 to help ensure that promising young girls from Virginia are provided an opportunity to continue their education at colleges and universities.
The winning team posted 14 birdies and no bogeys on Monday and finished three strokes clear of the runner-up squad of Linda Mason, Erica Bottoms, Carmela Tardy and Nancy Huften. Beth Anders, Dawn Anders, Kim Williams and Ann Mennell posted a 61 and finished third.
The Mason/Bottoms/Tardy/Huften team were the winners in the overall net division, posting a 17-under-par 53 to finish two strokes clear of Anders/Anders/Williams/Mennell and Nevia Cashwell, Patricia Owens, Joy Cimburke and Sandra Lee.
