NELLYSFORD – Garrett Kuhla and Griffin Winn used a birdie on the second-to-last
hole Sunday to hold on for a one-stroke victory at the 6th
MAPGA/VSGA Junior Four-Ball Championship at Wintergreen Resort.

The championship was played at
Wintergreen’s Stoney Creek Course, utilizing the Monocan and Shamokin nines.

Kuhla (Henrico) and Winn (Chesterfield)
followed an opening-round 67 with a 70 on Sunday, their two-round aggregate
total of 137 placing them one stroke clear of the Williamsburg duo of Robert
Dudeck III and Jack Devore. After opening with a 2-under 70 on Saturday, Dudeck
and Devore returned a bogey-free 4-under 68 in Sunday’s second round but could
never quite pass the Day 1 leaders.

Kuhla and Winn got off to a hot
start Saturday, going birdie-eagle on their first two holes, setting the tone
for a 5-under opening round. Sunday was less eventful, but they managed one
birdie on the Monocan nine (No. 6) before opening their back nine (Shamokin)
with a birdie. After slipping up with a bogey on their 11th hole,
they made a crucial birdie on their 17th hole to maintain their lead
over the hard-charging Dudeck and Devore.

Dudeck and Devore got to 4 under
for their round by the 13th hole, but they closed with five straight
pars.

Robb Kinder (Quinton) and Josh
Brown (Poquoson) rallied from an opening round 73 to post a 2-under 70 on
Sunday for a two-day total of 143, good for third place. Riley Tuttle (Norfolk)
and Mason McCoy (Virginia Beach) were fourth at 145, and the Suffolk duo of Jed
Davies and Sydney Grimes finished fifth at 146.
