GLEN ALLEN — The four-person team of Shelley Savage, Cindy Morris, Judi Enright and Joanne Kitusky posted a 9-under-par gross total of 63 on Monday to win the 2018 VSGA Women’s Final Fore Tournament at The Dominion Club.
The Women’s Final Fore Tournament is a four-person captain’s choice event. Players battled cool, drizzly conditions on Monday to complete the event.
Savage (Army Navy CC), Morris (Elizabeth Manor G&CC), Enright (Army Navy CC) and Kitusky (The Dominion Club) finished a shot clear of the runner-up foursome of Mary Kay Kotelec (Meadowcreek GC), Laura Kuhn (Spring Creek GC), Debora Green (Spring Creek GC) and Sarah Johnson (Lake Monticello GC), which posted an 8-under 64.
The winning foursome of Savage, Morris, Enright and Kitusky finished with nine birdies and no bogeys, and at one point, it rattled off six birdies in a row from holes 6 to 11. Kotelec/Kuhn/Green/Johnson made a charge at the end with birdies on two of their final three holes to pull within a shot. Both foursomes made par on No. 18.
Kotelec/Kuhn/Green/Johnson shared top honors in the net division with Cheryl Bantle (Fort Belvoir GC), Marie Anderson (Army Navy CC), Yua Kohler (Fort Belvoir GC) and Susan Smith (Arfax), as both foursomes shot 12-under-par 60, one stroke better than five foursomes that tied for second.
