For the third time in four years, Mimi Hoffman has been named the VSGA Senior Women's Golfer of the Year. The fact that she has won the award in back to back years is remarkable, considering Hoffman had legitimate concerns about her ability to play again at a high level following major back surgery.

By early June, it was clear Hoffman was back in form. She tied for second at the 20th VSGA Senior Women's Stroke Play Championship at Blacksburg Country Club. And in late July her back held up well for seven days at The Omni Homestead Resort as she advanced to the championship match at the 60th VSGA Senior Women's Amateur. Hoffman's strong summer also included a great performance at the 61st Women's Virginias-Carolinas Matches, where she garnered seven out of a possible nine points in three matches. She qualified for the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur and advanced to match play. She also finished second at the 2017 Women's District of Columbia Golf Association Senior Championship.

Hoffman is the first repeat winner of the VSGA Senior Women's Golfer of the Year award since Shelley Savage won three years in a row from 2011-13. (Note, Savage shared the award with Hoffman in '11.) With the 2018 Senior Women's Stroke Play Championship set to be played on Hoffman's home course at Belle Haven, another big year could be in store.
